A Very Big ‘Thank You’
In January our dining table is awash with bank statements and record cards as I prepare to submit the annual Inclusive Church Gift Aid Claim. I’m pleased to say it is an increasingly arduous task – and also an opportunity to be re-acquainted with my ancient record collection. Primarily, it is a humbling experience as I observe and reflect on the enormous loyalty and generosity of our financial supporters.
About 150 individuals give regularly by standing order to the work of Inclusive Church. This generates over £20,000 per year; and the gift aid we recover is a further £4,500 p.a. We are very grateful to all our donors – and we especially salute those who have been giving regularly over many years. These donations cover the basic running costs of the organisation, and give us the stability to plan further work. May I send a very big ‘thank you’ to you all? We are also grateful to those churches that support us financially.
In 2015 we increased substantially the money raised by on-line giving in partnership with ‘Just Giving’. In the first half of the year we raised £5,000 in our ‘double your money’ campaign, and later in the year we raised money for our Greenbelt attendance, and for the autumn Synod fringe dinner and meeting which we had not budgeted for. Late in the year we received £3,500 from charitable trusts towards our expanding work in the year to come. This is a very encouraging development, and means, I think, that we are seen as an expanding and credible organisation that still has much to do. We aim to create a significant presence across the country, and to work for the elimination of discrimination in the church.
In wishing you all a very happy New Year it is my prayer that you will prosper in love, justice and generosity.
David Hancock, Hon Treasurer.
